From the Podium to the Circle: Weblogs as a Social Contructivist Tool

This will be a workshop I present at the West Chester RECAP conference in May 2005. From the formal abstract:

It can be difficult for a teacher to give up total control of a class; there are tools to help ease the transition from the teacher-centered to the learner-centered ownership of the educational experience. This session discusses and demonstrates how weblogs assist in bringing students together in a learner-directed, collaborative process. Attendees will create a weblog for themselves.

I believe that as our society and culture are changed the enormous technological developments we will need new ways of teaching and learning. Because of the tremendous changes we must truly become "lifetime" learners. Social Constructivism offers a fine basis for learning for life.
